Our Fontographer source file converter turns Fontographer 3.5 - 4.1 database files (FOG) into FontLab VFB files (.VFB) that are compatible with TypeTool, TransType, FontLab (Studio), and AsiaFont Studio.
With this solution, make OpenType fonts using Fontographer or salvage old FOG projects.
FogLamp 2.0 enables the user to make OpenType fonts with Fontographer. Design glyphs in Fontographer, use FogLamp to turn the FOG files directly into OTF or TTF files. Easy drag-and-drop batch conversion of multiple font files.
For users migrating from Fontographer to FontLab, convert old Fontographer FOG project files into FontLab-compatible VFB files retaining all important elements including outlines, templates/masks, guidelines, bitmaps, and font-header information.
Design in Fontographer, produce in FontLab. Continue to design the glyphs using Fontographer but use FontLab Ltd.'s up-to-date font technology to produce the final fonts. Take the converted .VFB files to TransType, FontLab (Studio), or AsiaFont Studio to do the final font production in Type 1, TrueType, or OpenType format.
For high-precision fonts, Fontographer defines point coordinates with non-integer precision. FogLamp can convert FOG files into VFB with increased precision up to 10,000 UPM. This is useful when making complex ornaments, logos, signatures, and Baroque initials.
Input format: Fontographer database (FOG). FogLamp for Windows supports only FOG files saved in Windows versions of Altsys Fontographer 3.5.x and Macromedia Fontographer 4X.X. FogLamp for Mac supports FOG files saved in both Mac and Windows versions of Altsys Fontographer 3.5.x and Macromedia Fontographer 4X.X.
Converted elements: Outlines, template/mask, background bitmaps*, guidelines, hints, font naming, and other font header information. *Note: Only one (last) bitmap per glyph is converted.
Output formats: FontLab VFB (VFB), OpenType TT (TTF), OpenType PS (OTF). The FontLab VFB format is compatible with TypeTool 2, FontLab 4.6, FontLab Studio 5, TransType SE, TransType Pro, AsiaFont Studio 4, or newer. The OpenType TT format is compatible with any version of Windows and with Mac OS X. The OpenType PS format is compatible with Windows 2000/XP, Mac OS X and -- when ATM Light is installed -- with Windows 98/ME and Mac OS 9.
Macromedia Flash uses TrueType fonts, but smaller sizes of these fonts can look very fuzzy when viewed on a computer screen. FontFlasher converts almost any format font into a pixel TrueType font which turns on only selected pixels. This gives fine text a much clearer, more legible onscreen appearance.
Import any format that can be rendered by the OS (including TrueType, Type 1, OpenType, and bitmap formats).
Export as FontLab VFB. Requires FontLab, TypeTool, or TransType to generate font in TrueType or Type 1 format.
Software requirements: To use the Pixel tool (bitmap-style, glyph-editing tool), install the Python interpreter. To convert VFB fonts to TrueType (which Flash uses), FontLab 4.6, TypeTool 2, or TransType Pro is required.

Fonts and problems -- these two tend to be synonyms in the publishing world. It is often difficult to track what fonts are needed in order to successfully output a file on an imagesetter, laser printer, or digital proofer. FontIncluder 2/XT ends this nightmare.
FontIncluder 2/XT embeds TrueType, Type 1, and Type 3 fonts into EPS and PostScript files. Drag and drop EPS or DCS files (DCS 1.0 multiple file, and DCS 2.0 single and multiple file) onto the FontIncluder 2/XT icon.
FontIncluder 2/XT not only embeds TrueType and Type 3 fonts but will also embed Windows fonts into a file on the Macintosh. The Windows version will embed Mac fonts into a file on the Windows platform as well.
FontIncluder 2/XT checks any PostScript file (e.g., PostScript output printed to a file as well as EPS files of any nesting level) for needed fonts. If any fonts are not yet included (as is usually the case with standard EPS files), FontIncluder 2/XT scans folders (that are predefined) for the respective font files and includes these into the PostScript or EPS file. Whenever such a PostScript file is output afterward, there will be no missing font, and thus, no substitution with Courier will occur.
Though in some cases it is not absolutely clear what licensing agreements and copyright laws apply for this embedding procedure, most font vendors, such as Adobe, AGFA, and Linotype, explicitly allow for embedding fonts into a PostScript file.
Although FontIncluder 2/XT is a stand-alone application and a QuarkXPress XTensions module, it must be stored in the XTension folder within the QuarkXPress folder when driven by MadeToPrint XT (sold separately).
Version 2.5 of FontIncluder Pro Server, the industry-standard application for embedding fonts in EPS and PostScript files, is faster than ever. This major upgrade introduces font caching for faster processing and provides more stringent safeguards on the legality of embedding fonts.
The font caching capabilities in FontIncluder Pro Server 2.5 provide significantly faster processing of files and folders. This is particularly valuable in more intensive environments such as ad agencies and publishers' ad departments. It doesn't just speed up the workflow, it also means that any files that error are identified more quickly, which gives the user time to put things right before the deadline. The applications embed Type 1, Single and Multiple Master, Type 3, and TrueType fonts into EPS, PostScript, and all types of DCS files.
FontIncluder Pro Server 2.5 uses watched-folder technology to give completely automated, handsfree processing and can optionally either process individual files (file mode), project or job-bag folders (project mode), or complete directory hierarchies (hierarchy mode). It can also embed Windows fonts on the Macintosh and vice versa.
FontIncluder Pro Server 2.5 now also takes into account each vendors' policy on the embedding of fonts. It does so by following the practice adopted by Adobe Distiller 4.05.
The issue of legal font use has been a major concern, particularly among the larger newspaper and magazine publishers. They need to know that they are legally in the clear -- FontIncluder Pro Server 2.5 gives the user just that assurance.
FontIncluder Pro Server 2.5 is the perfect solution for digital ad delivery, cross-platform file exchange, graphics archiving, and more. No more missing fonts, no more Courier substitution, and, since it is a fully-automated, 24-hours-a-day solution, it can be integrated into even the most intensive production and prepress workflows.
