Reduce noise for sharper and crisper images. Noise is a very important issue in digital photography. Nearly all digital cameras produce images with an easily noticed noise component. This digital noise is especially strong in images taken at high ISO rates. Scans of negatives show a similar film grain. When the picture is taken in low light (indoor/night) or high-speed (sport/action) the noise is even more noticeable and a tool such as Auto DeNoise is needed. The noise and grain reduce the visual quality of digital images and resulting prints.

Noise is inherent to digital photos. Digital image sensors, because of the size and sensitivity, produce a slight noise as photons arrive at random intervals. The induced sampling error produces the noise. Small sensors on compact digital cameras generate more noise but even top-of-the-line cameras at high ISO settings show some noise.

Digital tools are needed to control digital noise. In many situations, fast-action photos, indoor, and low-light, a high ISO setting is required to avoid motion blur or shaking. Without the right digital tool, the photographer is faced with the choice of using a low ISO and get a blurry photo, or a high ISO and get a noisy image. The problem is compounded when photo enlargement is required.

Auto DeNoise uses a sophisticated algorithm that preserves detail and sharpness while removing grain or noise. Since noise is highly dependent upon the sensor of the camera (even within the same digital camera model, results may differ) and the picture being taken, it is very important to rely on a fast and simple tool.

AutoCorrect 1.8 (Windows v1.5) is a very efficient one click color correction tool. It is not based on curves (even if we have added it for a perfect final tune-up) but based upon the techniques professionals are using in darkrooms.

AutoMask is a very efficient Plug-in for mask creation on difficult subjects such as hair, trees, fur, and the like, and works equally well on simpler subjects. AutoMask is also very fast in these processes when compared to other similar Plug-ins.

With the AutoMask density brush, a new mask channel is created with a few clicks of the mouse. The brush automatically detects the edge of the subject and takes into account the natural aliasing of the edge for beautiful silhouette creation. In global-density mode, the virtual brush yields an unprecedented control over color range or mask-pro tools.

Global-density masking provides density-masking action that occurs over the entire selected area. With the global-density mask, the user can pick several colors, RGB or CMYK, and create a mask on these selected areas. This global-density mask also lets users select any color that they want to protect from being covered by a mask (protective density). A special virtual-masking brush eliminates extra spots or unwanted masks created using the automatic-density action. The brush is virtual — it works at the same speed regardless of picture size and may be used on very large images.

Local-density-brush masking moves along the edge of the subject enabling the user to sample the image with the density-brush picker. The selected color is used to build a mask automatically along the edge. An unlimited number of readings can be taken, and undo is also possible. Users can go back and forth between any masking feature, at any point. The local brush may be used in combination with the global-density tool. The density-brush-masking tool provides unparalleled smoothness on the edge of the mask. AutoMask respects the natural anti-aliasing of the subject and the semi-transparency of the edges. The mask created is an opacity layer or as a fourth or a fifth channel on a background image.
